Date Difference Calculator
How Many Days Are Between Two Dates?
To find the number of days between two dates, count every full day starting after the start date up to and including the end date. This calculator does that automatically — select a start date and end date above, and it instantly shows the exact day count, along with the equivalent in years, months, and weeks.
How Many Weeks, Months, and Years Are Between Two Dates?
A single “days between two dates” figure isn’t always the most useful way to think about a date range. This tool also breaks the same difference down into completed years, completed months, and total weeks — so whether you’re tracking an age, a deadline, or a long-term project timeline, you get the unit that actually makes sense for your situation, not just a raw day count.
How to Use This Calculator
- Select your start date using the first date field.
- Select your end date using the second date field.

- Use the Copy Result button to save the result for documents, emails, or records.
How This Calculator Works
The calculation is exclusive of the start date — meaning the start date itself is not counted as day one. Counting begins from the day after the start date through to the end date. Leap years are handled automatically, since the calculator works with actual calendar dates rather than a fixed 365-day estimate, so results stay accurate across February in leap years.
Months are calculated as completed calendar months, not a flat “30 days = 1 month” estimate. Because calendar months vary in length (28 to 31 days), the months and days shown together will not always divide evenly into the total day count — both figures are correct, they’re just measuring the gap in different ways.
Real-World Examples
- Date range: January 1, 2025 to March 15, 2025 → 73 days (2 months, 14 days; 10 weeks).
- Age calculation: Born June 15, 2000 — as of June 30, 2026, that’s 26 years and 15 days old.
- Deadline planning: A task starting March 1, 2026 and due 90 days later falls on May 30, 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this calculator account for leap years?
Yes. The calculator uses real calendar dates, so leap years (like 2024 and 2028) are factored in automatically — no manual adjustment needed.
Does the result include the start date itself?
No. The count is exclusive of the start date — it begins counting from the day after the start date through the end date.
Why do the months and total days look like they don’t match exactly?
Months are completed calendar months, which vary in length (28–31 days), so the month/day breakdown and the total day count are two different but equally correct ways of measuring the same range.
Can I calculate a date range where the end date is earlier than the start date?
Yes. If you enter the dates in reverse order, the calculator automatically reorders them and shows a note confirming the swap.
Is this safe to use for legal or contractual deadlines?
It’s accurate for everyday calendar-day counting, but legal and financial agreements sometimes define “days” differently (for example, business days instead of calendar days). Always confirm the exact definition in your contract before relying on any calculator for binding deadlines.
